Triple Episode 2 Recap

The Korean drama series, Triple will surely catch everyone’s heart. I love it. If Episode 1 made me want to watch it more, Episode 2 made me want to tell every single drama fan out there that this is one enjoyable series that will make you smile.

Just like in Coffee Prince, the director style of storytelling is so fresh and is so diligent in making every scene so delightful to watch. It’s not everyday that I am so satisfied with the choice of actors. Again, I’d like to say: Great Cast!

Don’t get me started on the music that was used; excellent choices of songs. It helps to set the mood or makes you appreciate the moment more.

Anyway, we see Hwal arriving in the skating rink just in time to see Haru take the center stage. Both Hyun Tae and Hae Yoon are already sitting and clapping their hands. As expected, Haru was so graceful on the rink but she did not get the first couple of jumps but boy, did she makes up at the end of her routine as she was able to make the triple jump with a nice landing.

However, she was not able to pass the test she was aiming for. Haru was disappointed with the results but not discouraged. Her main problem in that moment was Hwal’s disapproval on her moving in with them in the house.

Hwal told Haru that he will take her to the bus terminal so she can go back home just as he told her father. She realizes now what his father was talking about back at home. The other two guys told Hwal that they were the one responsible for her being there as Hae Yoon was the one who told her that Hwal loves the idea of her moving in. They tried persuading Hwal to agree.

Haru then feigned to having a stomach ache as she told them that she has not eaten anything the whole day. They took advantage of Hwal receiving an important call from work. They told him that they will just buy her a meal and then send her back home.

Hae Yoon and Hyun Tae did the opposite as they brought her home and helped her to move her things inside the house and instructed her to just grab anything she wants from the ref.
Haru spent the whole day cleaning and arranging her old room. She also managed to clean the house, cooked dinner and do the laundry for the guys. She was so tired that she was already sleeping by the time the guys went home.

Hwal was not moved by what he saw and was about to wake up Haru but Hae Yoon told him not too since it is already night time and if he is still persistent in making her go home, he could at least let her sleep that night.

The two friends HY and HT thought of hiring a coach for Haru so it would make it harder for Hwal to make her go home.  They like Haru and treats her as their own little sister. I love the way HT wanted to sleep beside her as he likened her to a puppy that is cute to cuddle.

The next day, Haru woke up early and made breakfast. She was clearly trying to win Hwal’s approval. HT and HY were quite happy but Hwal was still unmoved by the gesture and told them that he will still bring her to the bus terminal later after work.

Haru then went on to practice skating and there she met a boy skater who was quite taken by her but she was not really interested as she is focused on making good at her training. There she also saw the snobbish skater she knew way back when she was still a kid who also made an appearance in Episode 1(the one who was able to make the triple jump on her first try.)

HT wanting to meet and get to know Su In better, researched about her and tried asking her to coach Haru but Su In told him no since she does not have any intention to stay in Korea and announced that she is soon going back to Canada but the persistent HT won’t take no for an answer.

Anyway, back in the ad agency where they all work. HY was not his usual self since he worries about Sang Hee who was on a drinking spree again. He went to fetch her over to make sure she goes home safe and sound. This guy is totally in love with her but Sang Hee is not a person who can easily be caged. She is more like a free-spirited girl who I think likes HY as well but is too independent for commitment. He likes her but also hates the way she acts. He thought that they can upgrade their relationship to the next level since they already slept together.

The next thing we see was a flashback probably this was triggered by Su In’s request to meet again. This is where we get to know why he hates her. Hwal was waiting for Su In in a restaurant. He was quite annoyed that she just went and met with an ex-boyfriend. When Su In arrived, she was so apologetic and so he told her that it’s not really a big deal and it’s not as if she slept with him. Su In did not reply back and Hwal realized why she was so apologetic. That was how their marriage ended. He left her back in Canada even after she begs him not to.  Is she nuts? This is totally his first reaction to the betrayal. This is the reason why he does not answer her emails.

I get the feeling that it was probably a whirlwind romance since the other guys seemed not to be aware of anything related to her or a marriage. I remember one time HY said that Hwal was kind of different when he got back from his Canada trip.

End of flashback.

They met again and just like before she apologized for her actions. Hwal realizes that he is not ready yet to talk to her and told her that he will contact her when he’s already ready and leaves her. Before he was able to leave, she asked him if he misses her. The question made him stop for a moment then he left her without saying anything.

Hwal went home feeling bad and so when Haru tried convincing him to let her stay, he refused.

This is where we learn of their past. Apparently, Haru has a hand indirectly to their parents death. It was the day she told them to take her to the ice skating rink when they had an accident.

Haru told Hwal that she was so sorry that it happened and that if she was not into skating, their parents would have been alive still but she told him that she really want to skate badly and that she has nowhere to go and pleaded to just let her stay just for a year to complete her training.

She went to sleep that night crying.

The next day, she was as determined as before to warm Hwal’s heart. She started cleaning the house and burn the old newspapers in the garden. She left the fire unattended while she was cleaning the windows. Hwal was building his miniature ship and was playing some music to pass the time.

The wind blew and so the unattended fire was an accident waiting to happen. The curtain caught fire and it transferred to the ship that Hwal was working on. His back was turned and so he did not realized it at first. HY arrived just in time to tell them about the fire.
Naturally, Hwal was so angry. He grabbed Haru and told her that he has seen enough and that he is taking her back home immediately. What saved her from returning home was an emergency phone call from Hwal’s office.

The guys went back to the office and found out that another ad came out which carries the same idea like theirs. Their boss was so mad at them for being so irresponsible. HY could not take anymore their boss’ unfair remarks and went out while Hwal knelt down and asked forgiveness as he felt it was his fault because he was the direct person in charge of the project.

Later on, Hwal realizes that his former boss, the one who just left their agency was the one responsible for it. He then went to meet up with him. Hwal was so disappointed to see the real character of the man he used to admire and respect. His former boss was not apologetic; instead he told Hwal that it is a ruthless and competitive world that they are in. He then offered him to join him in his new company but he refused.

During his drive back home, Su In called him. He tried ignoring it but the next thing we see is him outside her house. Su In was happy but was also very wary. I thought that it was the start of something new when he caresses her face and she hugged him but he told her to go back to Canada because her presence is just causing him trouble so he was asking her for a space, literally. People should realized that saying forgive me is not enough. It is never enough and so I think Su In will need to do something more to get him back. Cheating is something I cannot take lightly and I do not blame Hwal for his actions. He still love her but he still cannot forgive her. Will he be able to forgive him? I am too is dying to know if he can.

He gave some sort of medicine and told her not to be sick, then left her. I was sort of confused in this scene since there was no indication that she was sick or something. If it symbolizes anything, sorry guys I did not get it.

Haru on the other hand was bent on staying in Seoul that she has decided that if Hwal still won’t let her stay, she’ll rent a room somewhere. HY did not approve of the idea and told Hwal about but he just told him to mind his own business.

After Haru’s practice, she was surprised to see her stepbrother waiting for him outside. She was then suspicious that Hwal will bring her directly to the bus terminal so she was looking inside the car if her luggage was there.

Apparently, Hwal has come into terms with his stepsister’s determination to stay in Seoul to skate and so at first he asked him of her plans of renting a room to why she replied by saying he need not worry because she won’t be asking for money as she saved some from her teaching job.

Then he told her that she need not really do anything at home and so if she causes one more accident, she will booted out of the house for sure.

The next day, Hwal dropped her off to practice and you can just imagine the happiness in Haru. Su In was so shocked to see Hwal dropping Haru to practice and so she asked Haru about it. She told her that it is her brother.

That made her determine to stay in Korea and decided to personally coach Haru. She was thinking that Haru will help her in wooing Hwal back to her arms.

Hwal on the other hand, has had enough of office politics/bullshit. His boss was taking advantage of Hwal’s team recent failure and was expecting to be treated in a bar with a model that he favors but Hwal told him what he really feels and reprimanded him for being such an ass.

Later on, he told his friends that it’s about time to move on and start their own business.

End of Episode 2

My sister kept on saying that the music used was kind of in the same vibe as those used in Coffee Prince. I realized now that whoever is responsible for the music scoring has some great taste in music because I am so loving it!
