Boys Before Flowers Korean Version Deserves the Fuss and the Buzz

There had been so much fuss and buzz surrounding KBS Boys Before Flowers even before the first episode was shown. I think right after the producers announced that there will be a Korean version of the best-selling Japanese manga Hana Yori Dango, a lot of fans kept on speculating about the whole thing.

 After watching the first four episodes, it deserved all the media and Internet hype. I totally love it!  I was not really expecting so much from the series since the Taiwanese and Japanese television industry has already produced their own versions of it.

Although, I know that the Korean version will definitely rock! Between the Jdorama and the Taiwan series, I’d go for Jerry Yan’s group. I am not saying that their production or the acting was way better. I just enjoyed their version much better. Maybe it has something to do with the cast. I am contemplating if I am going to try recapping the series. I do not want a repeat of the Coffee Prince days when I would scream at my Internet connectivity during live streaming hours. Counting the days until its Monday again.

Unfortunately, I think I am hooked. I am not familiar with any of them but they all grew on me.

Lee Min Ho has the right physique and quite gorgeous if I may say so to be Domyouji/Azi/Joon Pyo.

Kim Hyun Joong is perfect for the role and his good looks remind me of a young Bae Yong Joon so I am already bias.

Kim Bum is absolutely cute.  Those chinky eyes and that smile would melt anyone’s heart. Wicked!

Kim Joon has the right looks and stance but man he needs to work with his English. It is downright creepy! I would totally be embarrassed every time he says “YO”.

In the first few scenes from the first episode I was having doubts with the girl playing Jandi/Makino/Sanchai. I told myself that I don’t need her to be extraordinarily pretty because the character does not demand her to be one but I need something from her, something that would inspire me to say, “Oh yes, she can do it”.  Then, she smiled (in the scene when she was about to go out of the restaurant and the paparazzi was outside taking her pictures) and from then on, I know Goo Hye Sun is the ONE.

Acting was generally alright. There was nothing that irritates me except for the “Yo, man!” phrases of Woo Bin but I can just close my ears for a few seconds for that but seriously…!

I am not saying that it’s a great drama, hello, we are only at the fourth episode but the thing is I love the whole production, the cast and the acting. More importantly, I enjoyed watching it. The story was already a given. We all know the twists and turns and how it will end up but my props to the director and his crew I am still excited on how they would make each scene interesting to the viewers and I love the pacing too. It is quite fast. I hope it continues to be this way.
